Balancing is used to determine if a tyre is running "round" or if there is an imbalance. Even the smallest weight differences in the valve on each tyre or uneven wear through individual braking and cornering behaviour can lead to the tyre not running completely round. When balancing wheels, weights are placed inside or outside the wheel to compensate for any imbalance. These weights are available as clips or adhesive weights. To achieve a better look, internal clip weights are the better option. Generally, you should have your tyres balanced each time you install a new tyre (or when changing from winter to summer tyres and vice versa). As soon as it gets colder outside, anyone can hear and see them again: stuttering starters and stagnant vehicles. The most common cause of a breakdown is usually a weak car battery. Because in the cold, chemical processes work a lot more slowly and there is higher frictional resistance in the engine. Pure strain for any starter battery - especially when the alternator is stationary.

Depending on the type of car, an inspection is due after 9,000 miles to 18,000 miles. In modern, high-priced vehicles, sensors monitor the relevant components and report when it is time for service. Have a look in the service book of your car where the recommended inspection intervals are shown. A must is regular maintenance appointments for new cars if the dealer's warranty is bound to particular maintenance dates.
