AVR Classics formed in March 2009 by Ian Hargreaves founder and owner of Avonbar Racing. Avonbar was formed originally by Ian Hargreaves in 1976 as a result of successes in development engineering and as a race car driver. The result of which is bespoke engine and gearbox are now built from modest premises in Guildford, Surrey. AVR Classics build power units for fast road, track days Sprints and circuit racing. Concentrating mostly in all aspects of Classic engines for the Mini, Midget, MGB, Golf and Ford and others.
Throughout its history Avonbar Racing was well known for its Engine building, supplying power units for Tickfords, Wood and Picket, Osselli, Midas cars and work for Rover group. Ian Hargreaves formed Avonbar Racing in 1976 from his successes as an Engine builder and Racing driver. Building and converting a 1968 Mk1 Cooper S, adding his own flair and attention to detail. The car ended up being all black and powered by a 1297 short stroke all steel engine.
